Jul. 17th, 2010 14:27Friday July 16, 2010 To St. Vincent De Paul near Lake Street and 12th Avenue.
From there, I was going to the two adjacent shopping centers near Lake and Hiawatha.
Among the things I planned to buy: tortillas.
Lightbulb moment: I would be going past Mercado Central, whose Hispanic businesses include tortilla maker La Perla.
I bought my tortillas there, fresher than they would have been on a supermarket shelf. They were cheaper than at any of the groceries except Aldi (which is a very few cents cheaper.)
And, on a whim, I bought blue tortillas; yellow and blue were the same price as the standard ones.
From there to Aldi, Dollar Tree (only "dollar" chain I know of which actually sells stuff for a dollar), and Target. And then home.
***Science magazine I hadn't expected: Journal of Applied Ontology http://www.applied-ontology.org/
It's not quite as startling as running across an Atheist Rite Catholic Church would be...
