Pretty much everybody once considered the Earth to be flat. A significant number of people still think that we never went to the Moon, or that vaccines cause autism. The fact that ideas are tenacious has no bearing on their validity. (Also, Heaven and Hell are both based on Paradise Lost rather than on the Bible, so unquestionably fictional.)
