I am also a Gilbert & Sullivan fan, and their parodies are of their current stuation, whether it be set in Japan (MIKADO) or the middle ages (PRINCESS IDA). So many stf writers see a future like ours. How many stories had an interstellar civilization continuing to fight a Soviet empire!
