On the UK edition of Google News: the government has authorized Church of England clergy to perform same-sex civil union ceremonies, in the same style as marriage ceremonies. (This is the Conservative Party-coalition government. The preceding Labour Party government didn't do anything of the kind.)
Prediction: at least some social conservatives will warm to the idea of separating church and state. And the Church of England will lose some members.
***I had almost forgotten it was possible to dress too warmly.
To MNSpec (the Minnesota spec-fic writing Meetup) in the community room at the Lunds supermarket in Uptown.
Lunds is an upscale supermarket, so it has good food samples. I snacked on some before the meeting. (And I also bought food.)
Topic: a presentation on making presentations. It was a good presentation; and people contributed their experience at Toastmasters, sf conventions, and at their jobs.
As I left Lunds, I realized it hadn't been necessary to wear a down jacket and thermal underwear.
***To CVS pharmacy and the Uptown Rainbow supermarket, to pick up fliers. And then home.
***Computer neepery: Set up XanaNews, and got back onto Usenet. I'm fairly sure I used to be in more newsgroups than I remembered to rejoin.
Set Metapad as my default text editor in place of Ted Notepad.
